George Komatsoulis, PhD has been Chief of Bioinformatics at CancerLinQ since December 2016. He provides leadership and direction to CancerLinQ’s data activities from ingestion to analytics. Prior to joining CancerLinQ, he spent 12 years in senior positions at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During that time, he served as the Deputy and Interim Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT), Chief Information Officer at the NCI, and Acting Chief of the Informatics Resources Branch at the National Center for Biotechnology Information. Dr. Komatsoulis' work at the NIH focused on bringing advanced information technology capabilities to the biomedical research community, most recently cloud computing via the NCI's Cancer Genomics Cloud Pilots and the NIH Commons Credits Model programs. He also has experience in the commercial sector in the Bioinformatics Department at Human Genome Sciences, Inc. Dr. Komatsoulis holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology and biochemistry from the California Institute of Technology and a B.S. in microbiology from Cornell University.
